High School Volleyball Player of the Week
Week of September 6th
Jordan Russell of Moriarty High School
The first player of the week for the 2008 is Jordan Russell of Moriarty High School. Jordan led the Fighting Pintos to the championship of the Moriarty Invitational this past weekend. The Fighting Pintos beat Santa Fe (3-0), Los Alamos (3-0) and Roswell Goddard (3-0). According to Coach Kim Bell, "Jordan was outstanding throughout the tournament. She provide our team with strong senior leadership. She was aggressive serving and did a great job running a smart offense. Jordan is the type of athlete who loves to win and is always pushing herself and her teammates to a higher level. She has a good feel of the game and makes on-court adjustment to help her team as good as anybody in the state. She also is on the varsity basketball team. She is also very active in club basketball during the off season. Lastly, Jordan excels in the classroom with a 4.1 GPA.
